About Char Pagar
Char Pagar is an advertising, marketing, and privacy lawyer with over 30 years of experience. She helps in-house counsel and business teams create user experiences and data flows that meet applicable regulatory requirements and avoid dark patterns.
As a former in-house counsel at Walmart and Sears, Char understands clients need clear, concise, and practical legal advice. As a former Federal Trade Commission attorney, she understands regulatory concerns and goals. As someone who represented advertisers and marketers of various sizes in a range of industries at several leading law firms, Char understands each client has its own unique risk profile. She relies on her experiences from each of these prior roles to work with impacted stakeholders to reach alignment on pragmatic and effective compliance mechanisms and to help clients be prepared in the event a legal challenge arises.
Char assists in-house counsel and business teams by:
- counseling on operational compliance in connection with customer-facing activities such as copy review, claim substantiation, user-generated content, consumer reviews, endorsements, testimonials, promotions, rebates, coupons, email and text message communications, and privacy compliance;
- drafting commercial contracts such as agreements involving agencies, service providers, joint marketing arrangements, sponsorships, and creators; and
- responding to inquiries from federal and state regulators such as the Federal Trade Commission and State Attorneys General.
When she’s not practicing law, Char enjoys cooking, reading fiction, and engaging in vigorous policy debates with her husband and son.
